Since the mid 1990's through the
Christian Outreach Project (COP), this church has sent teams of adults and teens to northern New Jersey to help
homeowners who lack funding and ability to do important home repairs. These teams have completed projects including scraping and painting entire
exteriors of houses, building wheel chair ramps, removing and replacing all the shingles on roofs, and constructing 75' cement walkways.
Although the focus is on helping the homeowners, the participants gain the feeling of empowerment, learn new skills, make new friends,
grow in faith, and have a great deal of fun. For more information, visit the COP Facebook site
and/or the COP website www.christianoutreachproject.org
Our Logos teenagers reach out to our neighbors near and far. They have decorated boxes and filled them with goodies to be given to children receiving assistance from Social Services inour county. Every fall, Logos drives to CUMAC in Patterson New Jersey to help sort truckloads of food that have been donated to the food pantry. Our youth group decorated 80 T-shirts and sent them to orphanages in Loas and Thailand. They also cook and serve food at Helping Hands and raise money for mission programs.
For many years, our church family has helped Rockland county families have a wonderful Christmas through the Project Joy sponsored by People to People. We choose several letters written by needy parents and children, and then we divide the requests so that we might answer the children's wishes. During a December service, these gifts are brought to the altar in a heartwarming display of love and hope. In 2009 alone, we provided clothing, toys, and educational items to over 50 children.
Our members have raised many thousands of dollars for good work through our Alternative Christmas. We offer gift cards for donations to conservation and community assistance organizations.
The first Sunday of every month, congregants bring food to be donated to People to People's food pantry.
CUMAC is the Methodist church's outreach project in Patterson New Jersey, one of the poorest locations in the nation. CUMAC has a food pantry, thrift shop and job training programs. Several of our members volunteer weekly. Many others donate food and clothing and also attend the exciting fund raising auction each spring.
Our Sunday School classes have sponsored collections of supplies for several great organizations such as TOUCH which helps those with AIDS, Heifer International which provides farm animals to help families sustain themselves, and People to People which provides food and clothing to Rockland residents. Every fall, the children also Trick or Treat for UNICEF.
Our church has also sent individuals on mission teams to other parts of the world including New Orleans, Haiti, Russia and Nepal. These teams have provided monetary and moral support as well as muscle power and some expertise working on homes, orphanages, and schools.
